The Real Housewives Of Atlanta Represent The Crass Consumerism That Is Ruining Our Country
The Real Housewives of Atlanta — made up mostly of women who are wives of athletes — are the shallowest, bitchiest, and most materialistic we've seen in this Bravo series. All of them act like the girls you see on MTV's My Super Sweet 16 — demanding designer labels, extravagant birthday cakes, and fully loaded Escalades — but perhaps the most disgusting is ShereĆ©, who talks about how much "class" she has, which is a sure sign she doesn't have any. She's the ex of some athlete, and she is fighting him for money so that she can continue to maintain her lifestyle, which includes an extensive staff (personal assistant, chef, and publicist) and buying $3,500 handbags that look like you can get them for a tenth of the price at Joyce Leslie. She also thinks that "men are intimidated by successful women," interesting only because I didn't realize that "success" is measured by how much you can take your ex-husband for. [this is a kind of old clip, but i showed it to marcel today, so i figure i'll show yall, too. this woman is pretty horrid. that she's a black woman almost makes it worse for me. how can you call yourself successful and say you want to get the largest lump sum from a man that you can in the same sentence? ugh... you can't.]
Rachel Maddow: Sarah Palin "Is Lying To You — Enthusiastically And Repeatedly"
There have been many times during this campaign when we felt like we were taking crazy pills; like spinmeisters were straight out lying and their words were being taken at face value. Thank Jebus we have Rachel Maddow: Maddow is incredulous and furious at Sarah Palin, who has been denying that the Branchflower report said she abused power and violated ethics. Palin said on a radio show earlier this week, "I'm very pleased to be cleared of…any hint of any kind of unethical activity there." Hearing this, Rachel went off. For Palin, Rachel says, "Day is night, up is down." This is not a question of whether or not Palin is lying, Maddow continues, "this is a person who is looking straight into a camera and lying to you. Enthusiastically and repeatedly." [i really don't have much to add to this since it is exactly what i said when i heard palin saying she was glad she was clearer of any wrong doing...]
Stephen Colbert To Conservative Columnist Kathleen Parker: Your Mom
National Review writer Kathleen Parker calls liberal feminists the "hirsute, Birkenstock-wearing sisterhood," and, in a 2003 column supporting the Iraq war, included a letter from a "friend" who said, "These bastards like Clark and Kerry and that incipient ass, Dean, and Gephardt and Kucinich and that absolute mental midget Sharpton, race baiter, should all be lined up and shot." Well, after Kathleen called for Palin to step down last week, those "friends" have been sending some hateful messages her way. Parker went on Colbert last night to talk about 12,000 emails she got in response to her anti-Palin column. "One said my mother should have aborted me and left me in a dumpster," Parker said. To which Colbert replied, "Why would your mother write that?" [lol! honestly, i prefer john stewart over stephan colbert, but he was funny here. i also like this clip because it shows that conservatives really don't believe half the stuff they say. they just say it because someone told them that's what it should be. "your mother should have aborted you" shouldn't come from someone who claims to be pro-life, right? plus, it's funny that people get called "liberal" when they are honest about what they think.]
Thanks for the name mention. I still haven't gotten over that housewife. I hope and pray that she is only a very small minority of women out there. Palin shouldn't be trusted and Colbery is the truth.
