CNN is Pissing Me Off Today

I'm at home. I'm not feeling well physically or emotionally. It's been a very gross day. I've been in bed watching CNN aaaaall day because I'm not sure where the remote is and I really don't feel like getting up to look for it. Aside from covering the saaaame shit all day, CNN has had some really stupid stories. And aside from covering stuff about which I care not, they're covering stuff that's not news and in some cases they're doing it in a biased way.

First, they've been doing this story about this black kid who plays classical music as sort of a teaser for their Black in America 2 show. You already know how I felt about the first show and I'm afraid the next one will be more of the same. This story annoys me because I'm beginning to think that the country is just plain stupid. I mean really... What's so novel about a black kid doing classical music? I understand that some institutionalized racism may keep blacks out of major symphonies in some places. But why is the story aiming to make this kid seem remarkable and different for wanting to do classical in the first place? Because he's black with locs? Ugh, please! We are human. Black or not we have the same interests you do. Trust me. He ain't the only black kid with dreds in Atlanta who's all about playing the damn viola! This is not newsworthy to me, much less CNN-run-it-all-day worthy!

They've been talking about a survivor from the Hudson River plane crash feeling like she's not getting her just due. Now... Keep in mind that everyone on the plane survived. The incident wasn't the result of a malfunction on the part of the airline. The airline gave everybody $5,000 immediately after the incident. Aaaand they've been drying off and replacing belongings that have been damaged as a result of landing in a river. This woman says she was traumatized and that the airline isn't doing enough to help her in the aftermath. She's going to therapy with her son and says it costs too much and the airline should be paying for that. They offered to pay for 3 sessions IN ADDITION TO the money they've already given her. Now they're saying they've gone above and beyond what they're required to do and she needs to kick rocks. I AGREE! The crash was a result of birds flying into the engine. The captain acted right and saved everybody. Scary indeed, but dude! You survived! And so did everyone else you were with! And they gave you $5,000 that they didn't have to give. They PAID for some of your therapy, which they didn't have to do. WHY are you on CNN acting like somebody owes your ass something? And why are the damn CNN anchors acting like she's has some sort of leg to stand on? And PLEASE don't make this about the problems with healthcare in this country. This is about a woman with her fuckin hand out using a popular news story to get some sort of following. Getthefuckouttahere.

This Mark Sanford thing - the missing governor whose named escaped me in the last post - irritates me because it's not my business. They've been talking about him being missing all day. Then we found out he wasn't on the Appalacian Trail like he told his staff he might be. Then we found out that he flew into Atlanta. Then they said he was gonna speak. THEN he did. He admitted to this affair. The whole day I've been wondering why this is news especially since we now know he's safe and was safe the whole time. Now they're asking him if he's going to resign as governor. WTF? His infidelity is between he and his wife and has nothing to do with how he does his job. Plus politicians cheat. This should not be breaking news at all. Who the hell goes on vacay without his wife? We should've made the connection then and moved on. The wife was aware. *shrugs* Who the fuck cares now?

Iran. I don't want to seem insensitive. I'm far from it. I understand that Ahmadinejad is not a desireable leader. I understand why the people want reform. I'm aware of the voter fraud. I know that the blood shed and fighting going on in the streets right now is horrible ,but it is what they feel is necessary for the revolution they seek. I'm all for revolution. And actually I don't care that CNN reports on this all day. What's irritating me is this sense of alarm and immediacy to go help them. First... Don't act like voter fraud doesn't happen here. Don't act like our system is perfect. And I'd argue that ours is worst. We've been talking this shit about democracy since 1776 and the powers that be still screw it up. In Iran they haven't been lying about living democratically. Now that they want to, naturally there will be revolt. It was necessary for us in 1776. It's necessary for them. Second, I'm tired of people saying Obama needs to do something. Uh, like what? Solidarity does not mean go over and fight their fight. He gave his speech abhoring what's going on. What would you have him do now? You want him to get involved in another situation that's not our business? It's not our duty to shove democracy down every country's throat. I feel for Iran and the people who are in the streets fighting and losing their lives for what they feel is right. But we have North Korea aiming a bomb at Hawai'i. We have our own stuff to do. CNN needs to stop airing McCain and the other people who say we're not doing enough. You're pissing me off. Also... Iran coverage wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't the SAME info all day. Keep us informed and stuff but can we get new news? If not, don't call it "Breaking News."

Lastly... I'm really tired of their story about these "new" Nixon tapes. He wanted to tap Kissinger's phone. He tells Bush 1 to find some good looking republican woman to run for office. And he sought advice from Billy Graham. So? We know Nixon was crazy and paranoid. We know politicians use women for their own gain when it's convenient (see: McCain-Palin 2008). We know republicans are crazy and like Billy Graham. These "new" tapes don't tell us nothing. Therefore it's not news and every time CNN plays the tapes I want to throw something and spit!

Don't get me wrong... Some of the stories are newsworthy. Those turn out to be the ones that they don't run 50 times a day. Like the one about the off duty police officer in Chicago who beat up a female bartender and was convicted but only got sentenced to 2 years probation and anger management. That's something to be outraged about. Police shoot an unarmed man 12 times in the back and get away with it. That's something we need to tell people about.

First thing I'm going to do when my stomach settles is find the remote and change the fuckin channel. Don't be surprised if I don't watch CNN for a few days.

I Love a Good Conspiracy Theory

OK… So… A lot of this is repetitive (and that's actually important…) so I'm not going to go over everything about all these folks. You can read the bulk of it at the source sites. There are quite a few sites out there that say that Beyonce and others are possessed by the devil. It's actually a really interesting way to waste some time if you have it. But maybe that's just me since… I love a good conspiracy theory. I'm not here to debunk all this stuff. I just think some of it is simply wrong. Or… aimed at the wrong person. Or… conclusions based on shit that can't be considered evidence. Let's look, shall we... Alright... vigilantcitizen.com starts their analysis of Beyonce by saying Along with her new album, Beyonce has presented her fans to a new alter-ego named Sasha Fierce. The singer affirms that this new persona is the fun, more sexual and more aggressive side of her. This is however the “general public” version of the story. The esoteric meaning r...

Facebook Stalking...

Officially, I'm hibernating right now. I don't really want to connect on Facebook or Twitter right now. However… from time to time, I'm bored and reading that stuff is still mildly amusing… A couple things I noticed while tip toeing around Facebook: A lot of these "friendships" are super manufactured past the point of being fake. They simply don't exist. There are people I'm friends with on Facebook that I don’t want to be bothered with in life. Am I afraid to delete them? Perhaps… Well… I deleted a bunch of them just a moment ago. (Part of my hibernation is purging…) But… why even bother to begin with? Having said that… I discovered that I'm NOT friends with some people I should be. I'm missing out on some connections. A while ago, I deleted EVERYONE while in an angry "fuck friendship" mood. I'm STILL re-adding and re-discovering people from that episode… If it makes you feel...

T.I. Released from Prison... Early

Niggas are going to hate me for sure for this post… (If they don't already…) I don't care… This is unbelievable. Well… stranger things have happened. But… T.I. was released from prison after spending 7 months there on gun charges. I like T.I.'s music and ATL was a good movie and I definitely plan to see Takers . Nothing against him personally. I don't think he's a bad person. HOWEVER. Dude is a 7-time felon who violated his probation by purchasing assault weapons and silencers. He spent SEVEN frickin months in jail. For that . OK. He didn't use the guns. Ok. He thought his life was in danger. Ok. He's turning his life around. All that is awesome for T.I. But what about the frickin justice system? Are we REALLY saying it's ok for a 7-time felon to get away with illegal shit just because he's a good rapper? Bernie Madoff got 150 years in prison for getting rich off of scamming rich people but T.I. got 7 months for buying life-threatening weapons...
